| Review: | I was almost immediately upset when I did the code search for my RCA TV. I really expected this remote to know all the functions of my RCA TV, but alas it knew no more than the $9 RCA universals at Wal-Mart. So I had to Capture most of those. Then I move on to DVD Players - my new Panasonic, well just the extreme basic's there, and no Pause button nestled with the REW STOP PLAY FF in the hard buttons... More Capture. On to my AMP, newer Pioneer - Didn't know that one at all, Capture. My TIVO - It did allow me to set up a component button as PVR, but no code so... Capture. My Kenwood CD player, didn't know it either - more Capture. The my Cable Box, no code... Capture. Once I had it all set up I put all my old remotes in the drawer. When trying to pause my DVD player I would miss 1 minute of the movie getting the screen lit up so I could find PAUSE, so I'd also have to rewind. So I pulled out the original DVD remote again. Then it forgot my AMP, out came that remote. Then it forgot my CABLE BOX, out came that remote. Then general frustration with it's slow response to key presses. So out came all my remotes and the RCA 1000 went back to the store. One more thing that bugged me to death. After it was all set up to My RCA TV (using the code search then adding Learned extras) this remote does something not mentioned in the book- When I pressed the button to access my DVD functions it would tell My RCA TV to switch to one of the inputs. Press the Cable Box button and the TV would switch to Channel 3. This is not the way I have my things hooked up so I was constantly having to tell the TV to go back to the input I needed, and found myself having to cover the IR LED's when changing to other devices. Nothing in the book, nor in the Setup menus on this, but somthing I did the next day made two of them (DVD and PVR) stop doing this auto input switch thing for me. |

| Review: | I thought I wanted a touch-screen remote, because I thought it would be completely customizable. I didn't have any trouble setting up my various remotes for the most part, but not being able to re-label the buttons ultimately made me return this. On a couple of my remotes I have buttons unique to that remote, and there was just no way for the whole family to remember things like "when in Audio mode, the ENTER button equals the Digital Input button on the original remote", and "when in Cable mode, the "LEFT" button equals the C button on the cable company's remote". I sent away for the Home Theater Master MX-500, and have been absolutely thrilled with it for a week now. And I've learned that I like hard buttons much more than soft ones. Much easier to see and use. I paid some $30 more, and it was worth every cent. |

| Review: | I do not really have a problem with this remote unlike other people. I can see the screen just fine, havent had a problem with it not knowing or remembering commands.

300 Disc CD Changer
Dual Tape Deck
RCA Television.
Everything works fine just like it should, I didn't go to purchase this remote expecting more out of it that what it is, its a cheaper LCD touchscreen remote with lots of features....thats it, its not a Denon, not a Harmon Kardon, don't compare it to a company that sells a remote for $600 and expect the same quality. You get what you pay for. Like buying a Honda Civic and expecting Ferrari speed and quality, it doesnt work that way.
Personally, for the price this is a descent remote and does everything I need it to do. I give it a thumbs up. |

| Review: | I actually like this remote and think it offers good features for the price. If you have a hard time programming your VCR, then this remote is not for you. It does have a considerable learning curve if you don't read the manual.
I have five devices to control:
- Toshiba RPTV
- Toshiba DVD
- Technics receiver/amp
- Scientific Atlanta digital cable box
- Philips VCR
The pre-loaded codes controlled all execpt the Technics amp. Teaching the IR codes from other remotes was straightforward (i.e. engage set-up mode, press device, press assigned key, point orignal remote, press button...learned!) Not brain surgery.
The BIGGEST weakness is the delay between pushing a button and IR signal transmission. If you're a fast fingered remote controller and channel surfer, then this remote will frustrate you.
Macro programming is also straightforward and you can program a lot of commands into one macro. It doesn't remember if certain devices are on or off, so if you turned the DVD off and are now watching TV, then hit the macro to turn everything off, it will turn the DVD "on". Don't think this is a unique flaw to this remote.
The screen is large and is rather clear to my eyes. It has a good weight about it and fits well in my hand.
For <$70, its an good value for the large touchscreen features and multiple macro settings. |
